Andrea Harrison has been in retail for 30 years, most recently at Macy's as a media buyer, located in New York. Andrea began selling on eBay in 2004 part-time, selling small items like her son's outgrown baby clothes. In 2009, she decided to ditch the 9-to-5 and pursue her own business, launching In a Clutch.
From years of experience, Andrea has a gift of finding great, quality items for low prices. Her experience as a buyer helped with negotiating for items, being able to analyze reports, and generally being familiar with the day-to-day of operating a business. Since 2009, Andrea has increased her sales every year at an annual rate of between 20-40%. Her community is important to her as well, purchasing all of her inventory from local vendors to ensure the success of the local economy.
Since the beginning of her business, PayPal has been a partner in her ecommerce growth.
"Everything we do goes through PayPal. It just makes things easier for us."
Andrea has also taken advantage of the PayPal Working Capital program to help her business.
"Sometimes sales can be slow, or a large amount of your cash flow is tied up in inventory and you just need some money upfront to pay off other parts of your business. It was so easy to apply, and I was approved in seconds."
Andrea pays the loans back through a percentage of her sales which she says works perfectly for her business. It allowed her to restock her inventory and still pay back the loan in just a couple of months. Andrea continues to grow her business and show a passion for what she does every day.
"I love the flexibility of owning my own business. I can work from home and spend more time with my son and still look for avenues to grow."
