On September 6, PayPal hosted the Governor of Utah, Gary Herbert, along with representatives from the Governor’s Office of Economic Development at our headquarters in San Jose. The visit is part of a larger tour of Northern California by the Governor as he and his Economic Development team look to build new and stronger relationships with companies and stakeholders in the Bay Area.
With an office in Draper, Utah, PayPal has cultivated a strong relationship with the Governor’s office as both parties constantly work towards expanding economic opportunity in the state. The reception, hosted in PayPal’s Innovation Showcase, included members of the San Francisco consulate generals, companies that have a presence in Utah as well as firms looking to expand into the state. Representing PayPal was SVP of Corporate Affairs, Franz Paasche, VP & GM of NA Large Enterprise, Robert Clarkson, VP of US Consumer Credit, Susan Schmidt, Head of Business Development, Clam Lorenz, and Director of Government Relations for the Americas, Barry Murphy.
The visit allowed the attendees to engage in constructive dialogue around creating growth opportunities for companies in Utah and finding solutions to gaps in corporate needs. Utah, led by Governor Herbert, has shown a commitment to being one of the most tech-forward states in the U.S. with a strong emphasis on strengthening economic opportunity, particularly for citizens living in rural areas of the state.
PayPal thanks Governor Herbert and his Economic Development office for visiting PayPal and continuing discussions around ways to foster growth for businesses and citizens in Utah.
